Untangling Family History

Your privacy matters. Family history and DNA research often involves sensitive personal information, and I take this responsibility seriously.

  • DNA results or match information, where relevant

  • Prepare reports and summaries

It is never used for marketing, sold, or shared without your permission.


3. DNA and genetic data

DNA results and genetic information are treated as highly sensitive.

They are:

  • Used only for the purpose you have agreed

  • Not shared with third parties

  • Not uploaded to any database or website without your explicit consent

I will not contact living people identified through DNA without your agreement and a clear ethical framework.


4. How your information is stored

Your information is stored securely using password-protected systems. Paper records, if used, are kept in a secure location.

I take reasonable steps to protect your data from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access.


5. How long your information is kept

Your information is kept only as long as needed to:

  • Complete your project

  • Provide follow-up support if requested

You may ask for your data to be deleted at any time.

You have the right to:

These requests will be respected unless there is a legal reason not to.
